This fall has somehow seen me with a whole bunch of talks to give and more ahead – some that can be attended virtually. If you missed it, last post I shared my first minicomic as syllabus for a new (non-comics) class this fall. Check that out here.

In late September, I did a virtual keynote for Kohler (yes, the plumbing fixtures company founded way back in 1873!) , to kickoff their corporate Inclusion Summit. We scaffolded my talk on the importance of seeing from multiple perspectives, by giving participants some of my drawing activities to do in advance, and then used that to do a quick activity on how they might draw an inclusive conversation during the final part of the talk itself. Pleased to be a part of this and see this dedication to diversity within the company. Can see a bit about the Inclusion Summit here. I also did a visit with Urban High School, down the street from me here in SF – and had a great time talking Unflattening and also taking them through some comics-making activities! A great group of students and a cool school! See more here.

This coming week (October 15, 2025), I’m doing my annual trip to UC Santa Cruz as Unflattening has been part of their Common Read program at Cowell College now for the last 9 years! It’s always a treat to engage with the students. Also this week, on October 16, I’ll be a speaker at the virtual Sketch Your Mind  conference. The conference runs Monday through Thursday – with a host of really cool presenters sharing their insights on drawing as thinking – can see the full schedule for this free virtual event here. My specific session is Thursday October 16 at noon PT – can see details and register for that here.

And the following week, I’m in Boston/Cambridge to speak at Lesley University as part of their Thought Leadership Series – they are using Unflattening for all incoming freshman Class Reads program this year. If you happen to be in the Boston area – my Thursday October 23rd talk is open to the public. Details here. Their librarians made some readers for students and faculty, which seemed pretty cool to me. Unflattening reader for faculty, Unflattening reader for students.

Full days teaching and doing what I can to plug away with #Nostos – can see sneak peeks here on blueksky (I’m on other platforms too, but that’s where I tend to be more active). Thanks for following along – N
